Axivion - Stopping Software Erosion

About Us

Axivion develops and markets the Axivion Bauhaus Suite, a powerful software solution that enables software development teams to preserve maintainability and changeability of their software applications.

The root cause of problems in the maintenance and evolution phase of software is software erosion. Software erosion is the constant decay of the internal structure of a software system that inevitably occurs in all phases of software development and maintenance unless counter measures are taken. Axivion Bauhaus Suite is an efficient and highly effective counter measure to stop software erosion.

Founded as a spin-off of the University of Stuttgart in 2004 (Institute of Software Technology, Department of Programming Languages headed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. / Harvard Univ. Erhard Plödereder), Axivion continuously makes use of its network within the research community and maintains research cooperations with the universities of Stuttgart and Bremen. On the basis of the close cooperation with these universities, cutting edge technology from research projects is constantly introduced in our products which are already based on over 150 person-years of basic research.

The Bauhaus research project is one of the leading projects in the field of software evolution. It was initiated by Prof. Dr. rer. nat./ Harvard Univ. Erhard Ploedereder at the University of Stuttgart in 1996, always having the aim to support the maintenance of software. The Bauhaus research project was awarded with several awards including the DoIT Award in 2003. Professors, research assistants and other members of the Bauhaus project were repeatedly awarded with Best Paper Awards and are continuously invited to submit journal papers. Today, research is done at the University of Stuttgart as well as at the University of Bremen.
