Certified safety for rail traffic – Axivion supports compliance with EN 50128 / EN 50657

SGS TUEV SAAR Approved for functional safety sign

The European standard EN 50128 and EN 50657 define quality standards for software used in railway transport. The static code analysis package of the Axivion Suite is certified for use in the development of safety systems in accordance with both EN 50128 and EN 50657 up to SIL 4 by SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH.

The EN 50657 standard defines processes and technical requirements for the development of software for programmable electronic systems for use on rail vehicles and applies to both safety-related and non-safety-related software, such as e.g. application programming, firmware and supporting tools.

The regulations regarding the requirements for the software development process, the requirements for staff qualifications, documentation, quality management and the procedure for changes to the supplied software for railway control and monitoring (e.g. signalling technology) are defined by EN 50128 (identical to the international version IEC 62279).
